Quitting Smoking Benefits

You already know there are many benefits of quitting smoking. As you go through the trying times of stopping smoking it’s a good idea to keep the benefits of quitting in front of you.  Quit smoking is hard work and anybody who says it isn’t will probably lie about other things too. As hard as it is to quit you can do it. Millions of people before you have quit and millions after you will quit as well.

Cravings for cigarettes will come and craving will go. Most cravings only last a few minutes but these can be some of the longest minutes in your life. Think how good you’re going to feel from quitting. Your resistance will weaken the urges and they will come less often.

Remembering the benefits of quitting smoking will play a big role when you are having withdrawals. Withdrawals are uncomfortable, but not painful. Like cravings withdrawals only last a short time and are manageable.

When the urge hits and withdrawals strike think on these things:

  • You won’t have to find places to smoke and you won’t have to worry about your smoke bothering others.
  • Your hair, clothes, and breath will not smell like smoke neither will your cars and home.

Some other benefits to jot down:

  • Within 20 minutes of stopping smoking your blood pressure, pulse rate and body temperature return to normal. You can see the benefits of quitting smoking to keep your body’s vitals in check, can’t you?
  • Within 8 hours the carbon monoxide level in your blood returns to normal and your smokers breath begins to disappear. You are going to feel better when you stop smoking, aren’t you?
  • Within 3 days your chance of having a heart attack decreases and your nerve endings begin to re-develop. Your ability to smell and taste improves dramatically. Breathing also becomes easier. Your health is worth resisting cigarettes, isn’t it?
  • Within 2 months your circulation improves. Your lungs become cleaner which reduces your chance of infection. Your smokers cough improves and fatigue is reduced giving you more energy. Do you need more energy?
  • After one year your chances of having a heart attack is reduced by half. Your chance of getting cancer is also reduced.
  • Do you think you can remember these benefits when the urges and withdrawals rise up against you?

Even though you answered yes to the above question, you will still struggle with urges and withdrawals. You could go back to smoking. This is why you need a smoking aid.
